CHAPLAIN BIOGRAPHY

From time to time, we will present a biography of one of our chaplains.

Photo of Frank SheridanFrank Sheridan has served at the O.C.M.E site since the early days after September 11, 2001. He is a Chaplain at Cabrini Medical Center in Manhattan. He worked in the Emergency Room at Cabrini on 9-11-01 and afterwards. Frank was trained as a Red Cross Chaplain in November, 2001 and has served at DMORT ever since.
Frank has finished four units of Clinical Pastoral Education - a national field work program for training chaplains in clinical situations. He came to chaplaincy from his past experience as a teacher, educational administer and certified social worker. Frank was a Marist Brother, (a Roman Catholic religious order) for many years before marrying and raising a family. He is now a proud, doting grandfather.
Frank finds it's an honor to serve at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner because he witnesses to the sacredness of human life, honors those lost and their loved ones, and supports those working on behalf of their families. "Sharing this task with chaplains of different faiths and serving people of all faiths is the ideal practice of ecumenism I've ever experienced."

CHAPLAIN TRAINING AND ORIENTATION

Chaplains Lisa Bellan-Boyer and Myo Ji Su NimWith our need to fill a seven-day a week schedule we have recruited some very seasoned and talented chaplains. Many have served at ground zero and in family assistance. All bring a dedication to this difficult but rewarding work. On June 27th, we had our first orientation and training session. We gathered in the old chaplaincy trailer. The protocols for chaplaincy work were presented as well as an orientation to the site and Memorial Park. Chaplains Parker and Flood shared their experiences on the site and shared some of the situations they had encountered. The group went down to our new trailer at Memorial Park and was oriented to the Memorial Park site. As a special end to the evening, we all adjourned for dinner together.
